AMWNA President's request

Megan Dudo, President, AMWNA wrote:

Good morning, Mr. Navaneethan

My name is Megan Dudo and I am the president of the Anderson Mill West Neighborhood Association. Some of our neighbors have requested that we help them in the next election by putting together a voter’s guide that includes information on each of the candidates for the WTC MUD#1 Board. The guide would include for each candidate a short bio plus a response to three questions.

If you are willing to participate, AMWNA will post the materials on its website and Facebook page.

The three questions suggested by our neighbors are:

What are three goals you want to achieve in the next year?

What do you believe are the biggest challenges facing the District?

What is your longer term vision for the District?

If you decide to participate, please send me your short bio and your response to each of the questions as soon as possible, as early voting starts Monday.

Thank you,

Megan Dudo

My reply to her request:

Hello Megan,

Thank you for the opportunity to share some of my positions in your voters’ guide. My bio information and additional campaign promises can be found here:

www.bnford.com and on Facebook: Director.WTCMUD1.   Please share those links with your readers as well.

What are three goals you want to achieve in the next year?

Initially, my goal is to generate interest within the community so that residents will want to be involved.  I strongly believe this election will help start that process.

Roads!  I would like to work with Williamson County to resurface our roads so that they are of equal quality as those in the rest of our boundaries.

I’d like to put the brakes on spending beyond maintaining the district and re-evaluate where we are as a community using neighborhood associations and committees.  I’d like to solicit input from all of the residents on the current and budgeted improvement projects to determine interest and community support before proceeding.

What do you believe are the biggest challenges facing the District?

The immediate challenge that I see is communication and resident participation in District initiatives.  I plan to provide information to all residents using current and relevant resources to do it, making participation in the process easy and accessible.  This way our district efforts become more transparent to all residents.

What is your longer-term vision for the District?

Long term I would like to see citizen approved bond debt is paid off and every resident enjoying the freedom of that debt in the form of lower MUD taxes.

I would like to reduce the administrative costs of running this MUD district to an amount more in line with modern business practices for a community of this size by selecting a service provider through a competitive bid process.  I would like to partner with City of Cedar Park on contracts for goods and services that we both use to see if we could achieve some economies of scale.   A prime example is maintenance services used for parks and green spaces.

I would like to research the pros and cons of annexation with City of Cedar Park so that the board can deliver current and objective information on the topic.  It was a reoccurring concern from many residents I spoke during my election campaign.
