HomeStead exemption for WTCMUD1
One of our district resident wanted HomeStead tax break with WTCMUD1. I sent him a comparison excel chart so that he/she could plug in their home market value or appraisal value to see how much taxes we are paying with HomeStead (MUD area residence) or without HomeStead (Round Rock residence). Both areas are in the same Williamson County. Please note that 2/7 taxing entities have HomeStead exemption amount in our MUD vs no exemption for City of Round Rock, via, Austin Community College & Upper Brushy Creek WC&ID # 1A. Please send me an email, I'll send you this MS excel sheet so that you can try for yourself. The sample value is $200,000.00 I'm positive our home values in MUD area are all over this value. Replace $200K with your value in that cell and see the tax impact. Save and keep this file for changes to tax rate values in the future that will help you plan well ahead with your taxation.
My position on HomeStead is negative and
in my opinion it is a GIMMICK. This allows tuning your % tax rate to higher values and consoling the residents with small $ amount. The % is more than $ in any kind of market, especially, very high tax collection when the property values are rising due to appraisals.

I strongly believe a % tax rate to a % rate reduction or $ amount to entity's total $ amount reduction is the best HomeStead exemption, which can be made possible depending on less spending on year over year budgets. This HomeStead method would work when the level of unnecessary spending is completely curbed and controlled.
